SIMONA FARRISE BEST has focused her efforts towards pushing for better and more just laws that make a difference for many people.  She has travelled to Washington DC and Sacramento to lobby elected representatives to pass laws that advance justice.  She has raised her voice

-AGAINST UNFAIR MANDATORY ARBITRATION that are buried in the small print of consumer contracts, required pre-dispute in employment contracts and many other circumstances.

Recently, for a couple of years from January 2023 to March 2025, ATTORNEY FARRISE BEST directed her talent to serve the People of Alameda County and the State of California as the CHIEF & HEAD OF CONSUMER & ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION and Complex Prosecutions as Senior Assistant Deputy for the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in Oakland, California.  


ALAMEDA COUNTY DEMOGRAPHICS


Alameda County is vast with fourteen 14 incorporated cities of Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Dublin, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, Oakland, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Leandro, and Union City.  


 At least ten (10) separate Police Departments, exist in Alameda County.  There are unincorporated areas of Ashland, Castlewood, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, Happy Valley, Hillcrest Knolls, San Lorenzo, and Sunol that are policed by Alameda County Sheriff's Department.


MORE THAN 1.6 milion people call Alameda County home.  It is one of the largest counties in the San Francisco Bay Area and the State of California.  



2025 - TEMPORARY INTERIM DISTRICT ATTORNEY


The Alameda County District Attorney is a Government official ELECTED BY THE VOTERS & PEOPLE OF ALAMEDA COUNTY.  


The current (interim) DA Ursula Dickson, is the temporary appointee of the five (5) member Board of Supervisors. Interim DA Dickson was NEVER ELECTED TO SERVE AS DA.   VOTERS will have an opportunity to select  and ELECT their District Attorney in elections planned for 2026 and 2028.  


THE OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY  


  • EMPLOYS approximately 450 persons
  • SPENDS $100 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET
  • CHARGES CRIMINAL CASES & supervises Deputized District Attorneys in handling approximately 40,000 criminal cases
  • ADVISES GRAND JURY as to investigations
  • OPERATES NINE (9) COUNTY BUILDINGS/FACILITIES

As as SENIOR ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY, FARRISE BEST's responsibilities were vast. 


ATTORNEY FARRISE BEST LED A TEAM OF ELITE LAWYERS  that achieved HISTORIC & UNPRECEDENTED results for Alameda County and California state residents against major corporations including: 


  • (Oct. 2023) Alameda County received more than $7 Million from a nearly $50 million statewide settlement with KAISER FOUNDATION for its alleged environmental harm caused by hazardous waste dumping.  People of State of California v. Kaiser (Health) Foundation.  Case no. STK-CV-UBT-2023-9608


  • (Sept. 2023) Livermore Co. Blocked from Selling E-cigarettes and Flavored Vaping Products, DA's Obtains Temporary Restraining Order Protecting Our Children.  People of State of California v. Apollo E-Cigs.


  • DA Announces Radius Recycling, Inc. Faces Fines of Up to $33 Million Following Historic Indictment for Crimes Related to August 2023 West Oakland Facility Fire that dispersed a toxic smoke plume across approximately 100 square miles of land and the San Francisco Bay, and endangered the lives of brave firefighters.  People of State of California v.   • Alameda County District Attorney Sues Farmers Insurance and Other Home Insurance Companies Alleging Widespread Scheme to Underinsure Homes and property in California.  People of State of California v. Farmers Insurance Co. 


  • Alameda County District Attorney Announces Lawsuit Against Automobile Insurance and Software Companies, Alleging Scheme Underpaying California Residents for Totaled Vehicles to Maximize Insurance Profits. People of State of California v. Progressive Insurance Co.
